Caterer's dishes in care home allergen checks

The caterer records the allergens of each dish in its own system. The care home reads the dish and runs its own allergen check against its residents. This is native interoperability: the caterer's system and the care home's system were built separately, with no integration work between them.

What you will see

  1. A dish that you add to the caterer's menu is on the care home's service sheet.
  2. The care home's own check marks each dish that contains gluten: Do not serve to Edna Pickering.

About 3 minutes. There is no sign-up. Each system asks you to choose a user.

What to try

  1. Add dish to Lavender House's menu

    1. In Saffron & Sage Catering, choose Daniel Cole.
    2. Open Menus, then Lavender House weekly menu.
    3. Under Add a dish, in Dish, choose a dish that is not on the menu. In Course, choose a course. Press Add to menu. This can take up to a minute.

Result The dish is on the menu, with its allergens.

  2. Find your dish in Lavender House

    1. In Lavender House, choose Marco Bennett, who works in the kitchen.
    2. The Service sheet opens. At the top, find This week from Saffron & Sage Catering.

What this shows about Technology DNA

  • The caterer uses the 14 allergen terms of UK food law, so the care home's check reads them with no conversion.
  • The care home can read the caterer's dishes. It cannot change them.
  • The check is the care home's own. It was not changed to read dishes from a caterer.
