Farm tractors, serviced by garages

The tractor is the farm's record. The garage reads that record and services the tractor as a normal job. The garage's service record then appears on the farm's record of the tractor. This is native interoperability: the garage's system and the farm's system were built separately, with no integration work between them.

What you will see

  1. The farm's tractor is on the garage's job list, marked as the farm's own record.
  2. The garage's service and its next due date appear in the farm's system.

About 4 minutes. There is no sign-up. Each system asks you to choose a user.

What to try

  1. Check in AB21 TRC

    1. In Meadow Lane Motors, choose Claire Watts.
    2. On the Desk, under Today's arrivals, press Check in on AB21 TRC. If AB21 TRC is not in the list, another visitor has checked it in today: go to step 2.
    3. Type a reading in Odometer in, for example 4200, then press Check in. This can take up to a minute.

Result In the Board strip, AB21 TRC shows In Progress.

  2. Record your service

    1. Press Switch user and choose Rob Ellis, the technician. In a narrow frame, Switch user is under More, at the end of the list.
    2. In My Bay, press Open on AB21 TRC. The job shows John Deere 6155R, Machinery from Brookfield Farm.
    3. Under the checklist, press Record service. Saving can take up to a minute: wait until the button no longer reads Recording.

Result The garage shows Service recorded and the next due date.

  3. Find your service in Brookfield Farm

    1. In Brookfield Farm, choose Margaret Ellis.
    2. Open Machinery. If you cannot see it, press More first.
    3. Open John Deere 6155R.

Result Your service is the first record under Maintenance records, with its service date and next due date.

What this shows about Technology DNA

  • The garage reads the tractor's registration, make and model with the same dictionary entries that it uses for every car. It never added the farm's word, Machinery.
  • Each business keeps its own record. Neither can change the other's.
