New fields, added without deploying

A test adds a new field, Ventilation Check, to the dictionary and to the housing system's repair record. The housing system shows the new column on its next refresh, with no deploy and no database change. The platform refuses a wrong value in the new field at once.

What you will see

  1. The steps of the test appear one after another.
  2. A wrong value is refused and a correct value is recorded.
  3. The new column appears in the housing system.

About 2 minutes. There is no sign-up. These systems open with no choice of user.

What to try

  1. Add Ventilation Check field

    1. In the Local Authority View, under Test the rules, press Run next to the third test.

Result The steps appear under the tests: the field is added to the dictionary, the repair record is extended, a wrong value is refused, and a correct value is recorded on an open damp repair. If another visitor ran the test today, the first line says that the field was already in the shared dictionary and was used again.

  2. See your new column

    1. In Brindlewood Housing, press Refresh.

Result The Repairs register has the column Ventilation Check, and one open damp repair shows Blocked.

What this shows about Technology DNA

  • The housing system draws its columns from the dictionary's description of a repair record, so a new field shows without a change to the system.
  • The field and its value are removed by the reset that runs every night.
